Our journey is well underway. And our community is driving the project. You wanted a café at Melksham Station – it’s coming. You wanted a toilet facility – it’ll be here soon. More and varied parking at the station? There’ll be free short-stay parking and disabled parking. We’ll have free parking for motorbikes and more stands for cyclists. We’re introducing competitively priced tariff car parking, cashless parking and EV charging. And this is just the beginning. Continue to visit the website for regular updates and Melksham Station for your journeys.

And who’s behind all of this great activity? The Melksham Hub is another exciting project from TransWilts. And we are? A non profit-making Community Interest Company. ‘Company’ sounds formal but it’s the name the government gave social enterprises back in 2005. Since we were incorporated in 2015 TransWilts has served the local community in many positive ways. The Wiltshire economy has benefited too thanks to improved local rail services, plus the connection with the national rail network. And we couldn’t do it without financial and community support. So thank you!

ABOUT TRANSWILTS

TransWilts is a Community Rail Partnership and non-profit making Community Interest Company (CIC). All our funding is directed to rail related projects. We exist entirely for the benefit of the local community. We only have one paid employee.

The Government supports our objectives and activities. TransWilts is also an Accredited Partnership with the Department of Transport. Accreditation is formal recognition that our partnership operates to a high standard. We are able to access grant finance administered by the Community Rail Network (formerly ACoRP).

Our CIC status means we are registered at Companies House. We are therefore able to enter into leases and register for VAT. These two factors enabled us to progress the Melksham Hub.

Our TransWilts website describes what a Community Rail Partnership does. For more information contact Sophie Martin our Community Rail Officer sophie@transwilts.org or telephone 07379 175055.

Are you a Café Operator who would be interested in running this venue? If so please contact Paul Johnson email: pauljohnson@transwilt.org
